Most important books

My most important books for your way from old educational patterns to a new understanding of unconditional parenting & beyond the question of who we really are.

I am a bookworm. Have always been.

As a child, I have already devoured books and opened up the world through the stories of others. I love poetry and historical novels, and ever since I was a mother and concerned with the path of parenting with the children and thinking about a peaceful life with myself and others, the works of the people who have become increasingly important to me, I want to list you here.

I would like to recommend their books to you and give them as a guide to your personal journey, to your healing journey, to yourself. Enjoy reading and recognize yourself on this path of transformation. Most of them deal with education, parenting and “alternative ways”, but some of them go even deeper into questions of who we really are and which chance the universe, the divine, the source gives us, to create a healthy and happy life. Enjoy…

Author: Jean Liedloff

Publishing company: Futura Publications (1976)

ISBN -10: 0860074188

The author, who has lived with the Yequana Indians in the jungles of Venezuela for several years, impressively describes their harmonious, happy coexistence and discovers their roots in their interaction with their children: it shows that there is still a natural knowledge that has long since been spilled on us the original needs of toddlers exist, which we have yet to rediscover. The Frankfurter Rundschau wrote: “A human and living book about life, how it could be worth living in. It reads as exciting as a novel”.

bücher donaldson kinder

Author: O. Fred Donaldson

Publishing Company: Donaldson

ISBN: 0692885862

This book challenges the most basic of human certainties that fear and aggression are normal, natural, and necessary. We all “know” that the world is a series of contests governed by the fixed and natural laws of survival. Our fear based approach to life”dead wrong”. In Playing For Real I argue that we have a choice that makes real peace possible. This is a provocative and revolutionary thesis. Playing For Real is a pioneering book, doing what humans have assumed cannot be done–it demonstrates not only that we can choose love over fear, this much alone would be a profound advancement for human beings, but it is not enough. What makes Playing For Real a truly original book is that it goes beyond being a conceptual leap to presenting an innovative, universal, and tangible practice to achieve peace. By making the choice for peace readily accessible Playing For Real changes everything. This book is a subversive invitation to re-play our lives. I present an ambitious game plan and in doing so radically transform how we play the game of life. Playing For Real proposes a profound and until now unheeded cry for a paradigm shift from a contest world of “won” to a playful world of “one”. In pressing the replay button we activate the transformative energies necessary to reconnect with our original sense of belonging to all life and in so doing make conflict obsolete. The book demonstrates that: (1)our contest model of life is a dead-end; (2)an innovative and universal code of peace is encrypted in the original play of life; (3)a paradigm shift based not on surviving but on thriving is required to access this code;(4)this code of peace is child’s play. There it is, clear and simple. Peace is child’s play. I know it seems absurd. But hold off on your judgments. Playing For Real is a “How-To-Be-So- Play-Will-Happen-With-You” book. Children and animals have invited me to play by heart. Their energy, trust, love, and touch have performed a kind of graceful triage, remaking my brain/mind, heart, body, and spirit. They have made me more real. Their lessons must be experienced to be realized. Children’s gifts do not try to coax peace out of war, rather they mentor the skills of giving and receiving love anew each day without hiding in the refuge of fear. This book is about the choice to disengage and replace the contests of our lives and make our human existence the sacrament it is meant to be Make no mistake to play in our world of endless and fearful contests requires courage, the astonishing and hopeful thing is that no matter how harsh and violent are children’s lives childhood’s dream remains a taproot whose growth is as indestructible as the heart of the child within whom it is hidden.

Author: Alfie Kohn

Publishing Company: Atria

ISBN -10:0743487478

Most parenting guides begin with the question “How can we get kids to do what they’re told?” and then proceed to offer various techniques for controlling them. In this truly groundbreaking book, nationally respected educator Alfie Kohn begins instead by asking, “What do kids need—and how can we meet those needs?” What follows from that question are ideas for working with children rather than doing things to them.

One basic need all children have, Kohn argues, is to be loved unconditionally, to know that they will be accepted even if they screw up or fall short. Yet conventional approaches to parenting such as punishments (including “time-outs”), rewards (including positive reinforcement), and other forms of control teach children that they are loved only when they please us or impress us. Kohn cites a body of powerful, and largely unknown, research detailing the damage caused by leading children to believe they must earn our approval. That’s precisely the message children derive from common discipline techniques, even though it’s not the message most parents intend to send.

More than just another book about discipline, though, Unconditional Parenting addresses the ways parents think about, feel about, and act with their children. It invites them to question their most basic assumptions about raising kids while offering a wealth of practical strategies for shifting from “doing to” to “working with” parenting—including how to replace praise with the unconditional support that children need to grow into healthy, caring, responsible people. This is an eye-opening, paradigm-shattering book that will reconnect readers to their own best instincts and inspire them to become better parents.

Publishing Company: Balboa Press

ISBN -10:1452538905

Readers comments: A Fabulous, Important Book, Jesper Juul provides parents with such an amazing, simple, and absolutely vital approach to raising children that it rings true on every page. Some of what he suggests we as parents do is difficult – as it is against our “knee-jerk” reactions we may have learned from our parents, but all of it is right on about how we can raise confident, healthy, whole humans, right from the start. I was thrilled to have discovered a book that allowed me to see different possibilities with child raising. Anyone with a child will gain immensely from reading this book, seeing themselves (as I did, over and over again) in his numerous examples, and learning how to move on from there. Without reservation, I am grateful for this book and highly recommend it. No Parent Should Be Without It, There are not enough superlatives to describe how helpful this book has been to our family. With tremendous wisdom and a warm, pragmatic eye, Mr. Juul helps us redefine the ways we look at a child’s behavior and our relationship to our children and ultimately, each other. This is a book that doesn’t offer easy answers or ‘tricks’ to help in the raising of your child. This is a book that helps you see with a child’s eye, hear with a child’s ear, and feel with a child’s heart in ways that feel so natural and obvious, you will wonder why you haven’t thought of them before. But trust me, you haven’t. It is a book that offers day-to-day skills along with the thinking that helps generate them, leaving the reader feeling smart and well-satisfied. This groundbreaking book should be on the shelf of all parents everywhere. If you read only one book on raising your child, this is the one. I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you have children – read this book!, This is an amazing book that will surely turn upside down any thoughts you ever had about raising children. Even though you may not agree with all the views.

Author: Daniel J. Siegel

Publishing Company: Bantam

ISBN -10:0553386395

Foreword by Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence

• Is there a memory that torments you, or an irrational fear you can’t shake?
• Do you sometimes become unreasonably angry or upset and find it hard to calm down?
• Do you ever wonder why you can’t stop behaving the way you do, no matter how hard you try?
• Are you and your child (or parent, partner, or boss) locked in a seemingly inevitable pattern of conflict?

What if you could escape traps like these and live a fuller, richer, happier life? This isn’t mere speculation but the result of twenty-five years of careful hands-on clinical work by Daniel J. Siegel, M.D. A Harvard-trained physician, Dr. Siegel is one of the revolutionary global innovators in the integration of brain science into the practice of psychotherapy. Using case histories from his practice, he shows how, by following the proper steps, nearly everyone can learn how to focus their attention on the internal world of the mind in a way that will literally change the wiring and architecture of their brain.

Through his synthesis of a broad range of scientific research with applications to everyday life, Dr. Siegel has developed novel approaches that have helped hundreds of patients. And now he has written the first book that will help all of us understand the potential we have to create our own lives. Showing us mindsight in action, Dr. Siegel describes

• a sixteen-year-old boy with bipolar disorder who uses meditation and other techniques instead of drugs to calm the emotional storms that made him suicidal
• a woman paralyzed by anxiety, who uses mindsight to discover, in an unconscious memory of a childhood accident, the source of her dread
• a physician–the author himself–who pays attention to his intuition, which he experiences as a “vague, uneasy feeling in my belly, a gnawing restlessness in my heart and my gut,” and tracks down a patient who could have gone deaf because of an inaccurately written prescription for an ear infection
• a twelve-year-old girl with OCD who learns a meditation that is “like watching myself from outside myself” and, using a form of internal dialogue, is able to stop the compulsive behaviors that have been tormenting her

These and many other extraordinary stories illustrate how mindsight can help us master our emotions, heal our relationships, and reach our fullest potential.

Author: Peter Grey

Publishing Company: Basic Books

ISBN -10:0465084990

In Free to Learn, developmental psychologist Peter Gray argues that in order to foster children who will thrive in today’s constantly changing world, we must entrust them to steer their own learning and development. Drawing on evidence from anthropology, psychology, and history, he demonstrates that free play is the primary means by which children learn to control their lives, solve problems, get along with peers, and become emotionally resilient. A brave, counterintuitive proposal for freeing our children from the shackles of the curiosity-killing institution we call school, Free to Learn suggests that it’s time to stop asking what’s wrong with our children, and start asking what’s wrong with the system. It shows how we can act-both as parents and as members of society-to improve children’s lives and to promote their happiness and learning.

For every parent deprived of sleep by a restless infant or toddler, now there’s hope. The Baby Sleep Book is the comprehensive, reassuring, solution-filled sleep resource that every family will want to own.

Babies don’t automatically know how to sleep through the night; they need to be taught. The Sears family has learned from decades of pediatric practice, bolstered by their own parenting experiences, that different babies have different nighttime temperaments — and, of course, different families have different lifestyles. Instead of espousing the kind of “one method fits all” approach advocated in other baby sleep guides, the Sears family explains how you can create a sleep plan that suits the needs of your entire family.

With a sharp focus on the practical tools and techniques, The Baby Sleep Book covers such topics as:

  • the facts of inapt sleep vs. adult sleep
  • figuring out where, when, and how your child sleeps best
  • fail-safe methods for soothing a crying infant
  • how to make night nursing easier, and how to stop
  • nighttime fathering tips
  • whether co-sleeping makes sense for you
  • nap-time strategies that work
  • medical and physical causes of night walking
  • sleep habits in special situations such as traveling, teething, and illness

Like all the books in the highly popular Sears Parenting Library, The Baby Sleep Book is clear, comforting, and uniquely authoritative. Its flexible, sensitive approach to solving babies’ sleep problems distinguishes it as definitive — an unrivaled book that offers immediate results.

What would it mean to discover we’re designed to live extraordinary lives of self-healing, longevity, and deep intuition? Is it possible that the advanced awareness achieved by monks, nuns, and mystics–considered rare in the past–is actually meant to be a normal part of our daily lives?
In this revelatory book, now available for the first time in paperback, five-time New York Times best-selling author and 2018 Templeton Award nominee Gregg Braden explains that we no longer need to ask these questions as “What if?” Recent discoveries ranging from human evolution and genetics to the new science of neuro-cardiology (the bridge between the brain and the heart) have overturned 150 years of thinking when it comes to the way we think of ourselves, our origin, and our capabilities. In this reader-friendly journey of discovery, Braden begins with the fact that we exist as we do, even more empowered, and more connected with ourselves and the world than scientists have believed in the past. It’s this undisputable fact that leads to even deeper mysteries. “How do we awaken the extraordinary abilities that come from such an awesome connection?” “What role does our ancient and mysterious heritage play in our lives today?” Join Gregg as he crosses the traditional boundaries of science and spirituality to answer precisely these questions. In doing so he reveals a) specific tools, techniques, and practices to awaken our deep intuition on-demand, for self healing and longevity; and 2) concrete solutions to the social issues that are destroying our families and dividing us as people, including the bullying of young people, hate crimes, the growing epidemic of suicide, religious extremism, and more.
When new discoveries prove that the existing human story is no longer based in fact, it’s time to change the story. This simple truth is at the heart of the book you’re about to read.

ISBN -10: 140191750X

Five hundred years before the birth of Jesus, a God-realized being named Lao-tzu in ancient China dictated 81 verses, which are regarded by many as the ultimate commentary on the nature of our existence. The classic text of these 81 verses, called the Tao Te Ching or the Great Way, offers advice and guidance that is balanced, moral, spiritual, and always concerned with working for the good.In this book, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer has reviewed hundreds of translations of the Tao Te Ching and has written 81 distinct essays on how to apply the ancient wisdom of Lao-tzu to today’s modern world. This work contains the entire 81 verses of the Tao, compiled from Wayne’s researching of 10 of the most well-respected translations of text that have survived for more than 25 centuries. Each chapter is designed for actually living the Tao or the Great Way today. Some of the chapter titles are “Living with Flexibility,” “Living Without Enemies,” and “Living by Letting Go.” Each of the 81 brief chapters focuses on living the Tao and concludes with a section called “Doing the Tao Now.”Wayne spent one entire year reading, researching, and meditating on Lao-tzu’s messages, practicing them each day and ultimately writing down these essays as he felt Lao-tzu wanted you to know them. This is a work to be read slowly, one essay a day. As Wayne says, “This is a book that will forever change the way you look at your life, and the result will be that you’ll live in a new world aligned with nature. Writing this book changed me forever, too. I now live in accord with the natural world and feel the greatest sense of peace I’ve ever experienced. I’m so proud to present this interpretation of the Tao Te Ching, and offer the same opportunity for change that it has brought me.”
